Artist Statement
In the year 2024, the ceramic medium became a sanctuary, gently guiding me through turbulent waters. Each stroke of glaze, carefully chosen, whispered tales of my inner turmoil from the waning days of 2023 to the dawn of 2024, a canvas for the swirling maelstrom of my emotions. Vivid hues, laden with metaphor, reflected my wrestling match with an uncertain future, a defiance against the specter of harm.
Within the delicate form of the cloud doll lies not only my artistic lexicon but also a reflection of my very essence. Its creation stands as a testament to my relentless quest for understanding, resilience in adversity, and the profound journey of self-discovery and maturation.
The heavy, lustrous glazes enveloping the cloud doll, adorned with somber yet verdant tones, offer a window into my current state of being—a tapestry of complexity, mingling shadows with tendrils of hope.
In the beginning, the clouds were ensconced at the sculpture's core, weaving a tapestry of density and suffocation, echoing the depths of my creative journey. However, upon its completion, they gracefully ascended to the sculpture's zenith. "Nothing is a big deal!" This phrase, like a gentle breeze through the pages of life, succinctly captures the essence of my creation. Everything shall pass, and as I stand amid the winds of change, I embrace the realization that the past is but a chapter in the story of existence. So, I continue to work, allowing the winds to guide me, and with each stroke, I chart a course towards the unwritten pages of tomorrow.
